Williston Basin to Start Up Grasslands Pipeline ‘Early Next Week’

Nearly six months to the date it received a certificate, Williston Basin Interstate Pipeline Co. got FERC clearance to put into service the much-anticipated Grasslands Pipeline. The 253-mile pipe opens up a new route for producers to transport Powder River Basin coalbed methane gas and Rocky Mountain conventional supplies to markets in the Midwest and Midcontinent.

The completion date for a complete pigging of Matagorda Offshore Pipeline System has been extended through Tuesday; the project was originally scheduled to finish Sunday (see Daily GPI, Nov. 13).

Citing weather conditions, Tennessee postponed the completion date of a 526A-600 Line outage to next Wednesday. Physical flows at six offshore meters have been suspended during the outage.

ExxonMobil Eyeing 4 U.S. LNG Terminals, Inks $12B Supply Deal with Qatar

Coming as the largest U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement signed to date, ExxonMobil Corp. and Qatar Petroleum have entered into a $12 billion deal to bring LNG to the United States from Qatar for an expected 25-year period. ExxonMobil also said that it is examining four potential U.S. sites to build LNG import and regasification terminals.

Southern Natural Gas and Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corp. have asked FERC for the go-ahead to put their respective pipeline expansions in service by Nov. 1.

Williams Unit Seeks to Decrease Everett Delta Pipe Project Capacity

Williams’ Northwest Pipeline unit said Wednesday that it filed an application with FERC seeking to amend the certificate for its previously approved Everett Delta Project. The proposed amendment would lessen the proposed pipe’s capacity by 19,900 Dth/d.

Because of inclement weather hampering maintenance near ANR’s Alden Compressor Station in Kansas, the end date has been extended through April 17. The work, which is reducing Southwest Mainline capacity by 53 MMcf/d (leaving 634 MMcf/d available), previously had been scheduled to end Wednesday (see Daily GPI, March 25). Based on current nominations, the reduction may result in curtailment of IT and Firm Secondary nominations, ANR said.
