Citing a need to meet future growth in the region, NW Natural, agas utility serving 477,000 customers in Washington, announcedplans to build a 52-mile, 24-inch pipeline from its existingfacilities near North Plains, WA, to the Williams Gas Pipeline inMolalla, WA. The company said yesterday it has filed a notice ofintent with the Energy Facility Siting Council (EFSC), a divisionof the Oregon Department of Energy. The total cost for the newpipeline, which NW Natural said would be complete by 2004, is $58million.

Koch Gateway re-instituted a force majeure Thursday inconnection with the Compressor #1 station at its Bistineau (LA)storage facility. The pipeline had declared a force majeure Tuesdaywhen it took the station down for unscheduled repairs, cutting byhalf the facility’s normal injection capacity of 500 MMcf/d. Itannounced Wednesday the repairs had been completed and that fullinjection capacity was being restored for Thursday’s gas day.However, problems developed during the station’s startup. KochGateway said Thursday it was honoring that day’s Bistineaunominations but not accepting intraday nominations. Injectioncapability is back to 250 MMcf/d until further notice.

Sonat declared a force majeure in connection with maintenancethat began Monday at its No.2 delivery point into East TennesseeNatural Gas and will last for about three weeks. No nominationswill be scheduled at the point during this project, Sonat said.
Northwest Territories, TransCanada Agree on Pipe
TransCanada PipeLines has announced an agreement with the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) to build a direct connection between the rapidly developing reserves in the southern part of the territories and the TransCanada mainline.
