Steven L. Mueller has been promoted to CEO of Southwestern Energy Co. Mueller joined Southwestern in June 2008 as president and COO. A graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, Mueller previously worked for Tenneco Oil Co., Fina Oil Co., American Exploration Co., Belco Oil & Gas Co., The Houston Exploration Co. and CDX Gas LLC. Harold M. Korell, who is stepping down as Southwestern’s CEO, was appointed to serve as executive chairman until his retirement in early 2010, after which he would become the nonexecutive chairman.

Colorado State University (CSU) last week lowered its Atlantic hurricane forecast for 2009 to 12 named storms, with at least half of them likely to become hurricanes. Two of the storms are expected to develop into intense or major hurricanes (Saffir/Simpson Category 3-4-5) with sustained winds of 111 mph or more.

CIG canceled Wednesday the force majeure that it had declared Feb. 25 at Kim Compressor Station near the Picketwire Constraint point (PWC) in southern Colorado following an unforeseen mechanical outage of one compressor unit. Capacity at PWC was restored to 414 MMcf/d from 355 MMcf/d, CIG said.

Meeker Processing Complex Second Phase in Operation

The Meeker II gas processing plant in Colorado’s Piceance Basin has begun operations, doubling the capacity at the Meeker complex to 1.5 Bcf/d with the capability to extract up to 70,000 b/d of natural gas liquids (NGL), Enterprise Products Partners LP said last Thursday. The partnership also began operations at its recently expanded Shilling and Thompsonville processing plants in South Texas and expects its relocated Chaparral facility in the Permian Basin to begin processing gas later in March.
