Physical gas for Thursday delivery moved little in Wednesday’s trading as firm quotes in the Rockies, California, and Texas were able to offset weakness in the Northeast. The NGI National Spot Gas Average shed a penny to $1.84, and weakness in the East was driven by a soft next-day power pricing environment.

Physical natural gas values for Wednesday delivery advanced in Tuesday’s trading as gains in the Rocky Mountains, California and the Northeast were able to counter weaker pricing in the Midwest and Midcontinent.

Next-day natural gas trading on Monday seemed almost like a race to the bottom of the barrel as all but two points followed by NGI recorded losses, and most points were seen a nickel to a dime lower. Screen prices weakened as well.

Natural gas for next-day delivery firmed in Monday’s trading as steady to higher quotes in the Rockies, California, and East were able to offset otherwise soft markets in the Gulf, Texas, and Midwest. The NGI National Spot Gas Average gained 3 cents to $1.55, and average gains at eastern points passed 20 cents.

Physical natural gas prices for Friday delivery got a nice boost in Thursday’s trading as a supportive screen over the last several sessions worked to tug an otherwise uncooperative cash market higher.

Physical natural gas prices for weekend and Monday delivery beat a hasty retreat in Friday’s trading as buyers saw little need to commit to three-day deals and weather forecasts for the coming week continued to moderate.

Weekly natural gas prices may not be out but for the week ended March 4 they recorded their third strike and are now 80 cents lower than just three weeks ago.

Physical natural gas for Wednesday delivery managed to work higher in Tuesday trading, led in large part by a strong eastern power market.
