Weekend Prices Still Falling at Nearly All Points

A gain of nearly a dime at Transco Station 30 and a flat Florida citygate were the only exceptions to prices continuing to fall Friday. The decline of industrial load that accompanies a weekend was added to the established list of bearish market influences — moderate to cool weather in almost every area, a prior-day screen drop, increasingly negative storage issues and a benign (so far) hurricane season for Gulf of Mexico production.

Kinder Morgan Plans 28-Mile Chicago Pipeline Project

Kinder Morgan announced plans for a new 28-mile gas pipeline near Chicago that would deliver 360,000 Dth/d of gas to a new citygate station being built by an unnamed local distribution company, presumably Northern Illinois Gas Co., near Burnham, IL. Kinder Morgan said it is holding a binding open season on the pipeline project that will end on March 15.

Cash Losses Continue at Nearly Every Point

A few enigmatic gains and a mostly flat Chicago citygate notwithstanding, prices kept falling at all other points Wednesday in response to pressure from mild weather fundamentals and the screen’s second dollar-plus plunge in three trading days Tuesday.

Transportation Notes

TGT’s Airways Delivery Meter Station to the Memphis Light Gas and Water citygate is out of service through May 31 for facility modifications. Tennessee Valley Authority’s Allen Power Plant is served through the station.

Prices Down Moderately in Initial August Aftermarket

The August aftermarket was launched Thursday with modest downturns at nearly every point. Malin, the PG&E citygate and a few Rockies points were flat to a couple of pennies higher; otherwise, declines ranged from about 2 cents to a dime.

Weather Forecasts Expected to Keep Prices on the Rise

A mild retreat of a dime or more at Transco Zone 6-NYC, Algonquin citygate and Tennessee Zone 6 were exceptions to Thursday’s upticks that ranged from minimal (San Juan-Blanco) to about half a dollar (Niagara, Dawn). Most gains were between about a dime and a little more than 30 cents, with those of 20-30 cents being most common.
