Texas LNG Terminal Project, Elba Island Expansion Get FERC Nods

FERC last Thursday issued certificates for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal project in Southeast Texas and for an expansion of an existing LNG terminal in Georgia, as well as for associated pipeline projects. The two LNG projects combined will provide more than 2 Bcf/d of additional regasification capacity in the United States.

With one Commissioner referring to it as a “king-like” endeavor, FERC last Thursday issued certificates for three projects that will make up the westernmost end of Rockies Express Pipeline LLC’s proposed $4 billion 1,663-mile pipeline that would transport Rocky Mountain natural gas to Midwest and eastern markets.

All of the projects are designed to serve growing gas demand, primarily from gas-fired power generation, in the Southeast region.
