Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco) has filed an application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to build a $182 million expansion of its system to meet growing natural gas demand in New York City and the Rockaways.

Encana Corp. and liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling solutions provider Ferus LNG Inc. said they will build a 190,000 liter per day LNG production facility near Grande Prairie, Alberta (AB).

When considering the increased rate that wells are getting connected to gathering pipeline systems, North Dakota is “turning the corner” on the volumes of natural gas flaring despite the relatively high percentage of associated gas that is still being burned at the wellhead, state officials told NGI’s Shale Daily.

Tervita Corp., a Calgary-based environmental and energy services company, has been selected to build and operate a facility in Carroll County, OH, to treat Chesapeake Energy Corp.’s produced and tophole drilling water from its Utica Shale operations, the companies said.

The costs to build, as well as operate, upstream oil and natural gas facilities continued to increase this year and are forecast to jump more in 2013, according to IHS Inc.

FERC has approved an application of Tres Palacios Gas Storage LLC, a unit of Inergy LP, to build an extension of its header system to a processing plant in south-central Texas.

Colorado stakeholders in an ongoing voluntary water testing program related to oil and natural gas extraction activity support a statewide mandatory program, they said earlier this month, two days after the state government held its first public hearing on a proposed baseline groundwater monitoring program.

An official with Range Resources Corp. said he believes the federal government will eventually allow the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) but cautioned that the industry shouldn’t be complacent and just assume exports will be approved.

FERC Thursday approved Inergy subsidiary Central New York Oil and Gas Co.’s (CNYOG) request to begin partial service on its MARC-I Hub Line project in northeastern Pennsylvania on or before Nov. 14, giving northern markets greater access to Marcellus Shale gas. It said it plans to soon seek authorization to place the entire project into operation by Dec. 1.
