Mixed Market Shows Slight Bias Toward Upside

With a cold front gradually extending its reach into the Midcontinent and forecasts of frigid weather later this week in the key market areas of the Midwest and Northeast, prices were mixed on either side of flat Tuesday, but gains tended to outweigh the losses.

Aftermarket Starts Mixed But With Bias to Downside

The start of the November aftermarket saw a decidedly mixed bag of price movement Thursday. Compared with last-of-October numbers, Nov. 1 pricing ranged from about half a dollar lower (San Juan Basin) to a little more than a dime higher (SoCal border), with many gradations between those extremes. Overall, the negative changes outweighed the positive ones.

Western Upticks Belie Generally Flat Pricing

The cash market continued to muddle around Monday in a generallyflat mode with a slight bias to the upside as traders tried toassess whether there was enough cold weather around to reallymatter. To Houston sources donning sweaters for possibly the firsttime this season, the answer might have seemed to be yes, but toothers it was no as they noted the abundance of available storageand the fact that only a few markets were experiencing sub-freezingtemperatures. Most points were flat to a couple of cents higher,with the declines of any size occurring at Northeast citygates(although Transco Zone 6-non NYC bucked the trend there with asmall gain). Northeast weather was rainy but not freezing.
