Mexico’s President Dedicates Sempra North Baja LNG Terminal

Fully contracted but still not processing liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments on a commercial basis, San Diego-based Sempra Energy’s Costa Azul LNG receiving terminal along the Pacific Coast of North Baja California, Mexico, was dedicated by Mexico’s President Felipe Calderon Thursday in ceremonies at the site hosted by Sempra CEO Donald Felsinger.

In a filing with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy, Cheniere Marketing Inc. has requested authorization to export on a spot market basis over a two year period up to 64 Bcf of liquefied natural gas (LNG) that has been imported and stored at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal in southwest Louisiana.

Dominion Cove Point LNG LP and Dominion Transmission Inc. have called on FERC to act on a “highly expedited basis” to affirm and reissue all of the agency’s authorizations for the $700 million expansion of their liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Lusby, MD, and associated pipeline facilities.

Cash Market Remains Firm as Futures Drop

Keeping the theme intact of moving mostly as a whole on a daily basis, a vast majority of cash points finished out the week with gains on Friday, recording hikes that ranged mostly from a few pennies to a quarter. A few El Paso points out West were some of the only losers on the day, shedding a couple of pennies apiece. It was an up and down week. Friday’s gains built on increases Thursday. Monday and Wednesday showed overall declines offset by widespread increases Tuesday.
