ConocoPhillips Expects Higher 1Q Volumes in Lower 48, Lower Gas Prices

In an interim update Tuesday, ConocoPhillips said higher production in the Lower 48, Australia and Venezuela won’t be enough to lift 1Q2006 production on a boe/d basis above output in the final quarter of 2005. The Houston-based producer also said it expects crude prices to be higher than in the previous quarter, up to $61.75/bbl from $56.90, while natural gas prices will drop to $9.01/Mcf (Henry Hub) from $13.

Washington Gas Light’s Interim Gas Rates Go Before VA Commission on Sept. 15

In effect on an interim basis since Feb. 26, Washington Gas Light Co.’s (WGL) new rates will go through a public hearing on Sept. 15 where it will be decided whether the rates are just, according to the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC). By law, interim rates can become effective, subject to refund, while the SCC fully investigates the reasonableness of the request.

Mitsubishi to File for LNG Terminal in Long Beach, CA

After completing preliminary environmental assessment work on a staff-to-staff basis with federal regulators, Mitsubishi Corp.’s California-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) development company, Sound Energy Solutions (SES), is set to file a formal application later this month with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. A City of Long Beach Energy Department official confirmed that the port city is still backing the proposal, assuming it can meet all safety and environmental standards.
