Georgia Regulators Grant Limited Stay of AGL Rate Freeze Order

The Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC) granted AGL Resources a limited stay of an April 29 order to freeze subsidiary Atlanta Gas Light Co.’s residential rates (see NGI, May 2). Officials at AGL were stunned last week by the 3-2 vote at GPSC, which AGL said would cut its annual utility revenues by about $25 million.

Slightly Bullish 39 Bcf Injection Gives Futures a Little Lift

While many had been calling for a bullish natural gas storage injection, the 39 Bcf build reported Thursday morning for the week ended April 29 was lower than expected. As a result, June natural gas futures received a short boost once the Energy Information Administration (EIA) report hit the street.

Coast Guard Resumes Review of McMoRan’s Main Pass LNG Terminal

McMoRan Exploration Co. said the U.S Coast Guard on April 21 resumed the statutory period under the Deepwater Port Act (DWPA) for review of the company’s proposed 1 Bcf/d Main Pass Energy Hub liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal and gas storage facility offshore Louisiana. McMoRan now expects the terminal to be approved by the end of the year.

Transportation Notes

Northwest has scheduled installation of a filter/separator at its interconnect with Questar’s Clay Basin Storage Facility for April 27-28. Physical injections and withdrawals from or to Northwest will not be possible for those gas days, Questar said.

Falcon Gas Storage Co. last week said that up to 3.5 Bcf of working gas storage capacity will be available at its Hill-Lake facility beginning April 1. It reported that currently all 10 Bcf of Hill-Lake’s working gas storage capacity is fully subscribed through the end of this winter.
