The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved theabandonment by Avoca Natural Gas Storage of its unfinished saltcavern storage facility in southwestern New York State. Theabandonment order issued Monday follows Avoca’s bankruptcyproceedings and plans for sale of the facility to Northeastern GasCaverns LLC, a New York company.

Pennsylvania Enterprises Inc and subsidiaries and Southern UnionCo. said the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PPUC) approvedthe merger of the two companies.

Less than two months after FERC approved its Medicine BowLateral, Wyoming Interstate Co. Ltd. (WIC) last week was back atthe Commission seeking a second-phase expansion of the line to add120 MDth/d of capacity. WIC also is laying the groundwork for athird expansion to further meet its contractual commitments withproducers tapping into the prolific coal-bed methane (CBM) reservesin the Power River Basin in Wyoming.

With a few minor changes, FERC has approved Natural Gas PipelineCo.’s (NGPL) proposal to establish procedures to reserve certaincategories of existing capacity for future expansions andextensions.

The New York State Public Service Commission approved anapplication by Empire State Pipeline to construct a newinterconnection with CNG Transmission Corp. facilities in OnondagaCounty, NY.

ARCO and BP Amoco shareholders approved the proposed $27 billioncombination of the two companies last week, but the combinationremains subject to the approval of regulatory authorities,including the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the EuropeanCommission. It’s expected to close later in the year. The all-sharedeal will involve the exchange of 0.82 BP Amoco American DepositoryShares (ADS) for each ARCO share.

ARCO shareholders approved the company’s proposed $27 billioncombination with BP Amoco. The all-share deal will involve theexchange of 0.82 BP Amoco American Depository Shares (ADS) for eachARCO share. BP Amoco’s shareholder meeting to vote on thecombination is scheduled for Wednesday in London. The combinationremains subject to the approval of regulatory authorities,including the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the EuropeanCommission. The companies currently are working to close thetransaction later in the year.

The proposed marriage of KN Energy Inc. and Kinder Morgan Inc.has passed federal antitrust review and has been verbally approvedby Colorado regulators, which puts the deal on track to becompleted in the early fourth quarter, the companies said.
