Southern LNG Seeks FERC OK to Expand Elba Island Terminal

El Paso Corp. subsidiary Southern LNG has filed an application at FERC seeking the go-ahead to expand by 80% the storage capacity and design send-out rate of its Elba Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal near Savannah, GA.

Westcoast Plans 200 MMcf/d Expansion on its Southern Mainline

Westcoast Energy has filed an application with the National Energy Board to expand its Southern Mainline in British Columbia by about 200 MMcf/d to accommodate significant new supplies, particularly from the Ladyfern project in northeastern British Columbia. The C$338 million project will include new pipeline looping and compression along the portion of its system that extends from about 25 miles south of Chetwynd, BC, to the Huntingdon/Sumas export point in the Pacific Northwest.

Williams Files to Build 400-Mile Western Frontier Pipe

Williams Gas Pipeline has filed an application for a new $365 million pipeline that would extend from the Cheyenne hub in northern Colorado to multiple pipeline interconnections in southwestern Kansas and the panhandle of Oklahoma. The Western Frontier Pipeline would consist of 400 miles of 30-inch diameter pipe and 30,000 horsepower of compression. It would transport up to 540,000 Dth/d of gas to markets in the Midcontinent.

Williams Files Rockies Expansion with FERC

Northwest Pipeline has filed an application with FERC for its Rockies Expansion Project in Wyoming and southeastern Idaho. The project would increase its capacity by 175,000 Dth/d for transportation of existing customers’ domestic supplies to markets in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

El Paso Applies to Expand Export Capacity to Mexico

El Paso Natural Gas has filed an application at FERC to increase the existing maximum daily export capacity on the Samalayuca Lateral by about one-third to 308 MMcf/d to meet the growing natural gas demand in northern Mexico, which is being fueled in large part by power generation.

Ozark Plans to Lease Transport, Storage on Transok

Ozark Gas Transmission earlier this month filed an application with FERC to lease 9 Bcf of working storage capacity at the Greasy Lake storage field in Hughes County, OK, and 225,000 Dth/d of pipeline capacity on affiliate Transok’s Oklahoma intrastate pipeline system in order to provide “no-notice” firm and interruptible transportation services to its own customers.

Islander Pipeline Project Filed at FERC

Islander East Pipeline Co. LLC., a joint venture of subsidiaries of Duke Energy and KeySpan Corp., filed an application with FERC to construct 50 miles of interstate gas pipeline that will transport gas to growing markets in Connecticut, New York City and Long Island, NY. First announced in late January (see NGI, Feb. 5), the 250 MMcf/d pipe is expected to be in service in 2003.
