MarkWest Buys Carthage Gathering System from American for $240M

MarkWest Energy Partners LP is buying American Central East Texas Gas Co.’s Carthage gas gathering system and processing assets in East Texas for $240 million. The 180-mile gathering system serves about 1,700 wells in the Carthage field, gathering gas from the Cotton Valley, Pettit and Travis Peak formations, and currently is undergoing an 82-mile expansion.

El Paso Unloads More Assets, Sell Stake in CE Generation to TransAlta for $240M

El Paso Corp. continued to work on its balance sheet Friday with a $240 million sale of El Paso Merchant Energy’s 50% stake in CE Generation to Calgary-based independent power producer TransAlta Corp. The sale includes a half share in 13 power plants with 820 MW of capacity and the right to a 50% interest in a geothermal development project.

National Fuel to Acquire Duke’s Empire State Pipe in $240M Deal

Buffalo, NY-based National Fuel Gas Co. announced late last week that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the Empire State Pipeline from Duke Energy’ DEGT (Duke Energy Gas Transmission) subsidiary for approximately $240 million. The company reported that a stock purchase agreement regarding the transaction was also executed Thursday.
