CAPP Says North American Cooperation is Key

With the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as well as the Canada/United States Free Trade Agreement firmly in place, Canadian producers said North America as a whole must come together and continue to work toward a reliable supply of gas and oil to quench the appetite of the North American energy markets. It is critical they said, that Canada and the United States develop additional global strategies to address energy production and consumption, especially with the constantly growing interdependence of the countries’ economies.

PG&E Bankruptcy a ’10 on the Richter Scale’

California’s political, regulatory and economic landscape was altered last week by the financial earthquake from Pacific Gas and Electric Co.’s bankruptcy filing on Friday in San Francisco. The bankruptcy adds a whole new dimension to the state’s continuing energy crisis, putting ever-more dire economic consequences on the electricity supply/price crunch that gripped the state since last summer.

El Paso Proposes System-Wide Re-Allocation of Receipt Point Rights

With the FERC-ordered capacity re-assignments at the Topock, AZ, delivery points barely off the ground, El Paso Natural Gas has proposed a new plan to re-allocate shippers’ receipt point rights across its entire pipeline system in an attempt to further improve delivery and scheduling.
