Williams has asked FERC for the go-ahead to build a 1,000 MDth/d interconnect between its Cove Point liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Lusby, MD, and affiliate Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line.

A proposal by El Paso Natural Gas to build a new delivery point and associated lateral facilities to provide “full requirements” service of 410 MMcf/d to a new generation plant under construction in Arizona has come under fire by producer and utility shippers on the pipeline.

Duke/Fluor Daniel, a joint venture between Duke Energy and Fluor Corp,. yesterday disclosed that it has been awarded contracts by Duke Energy North America (DENA) to perform engineering, procurement and construction services for four natural gas-fired, combined cycle power generation facilities with a combined capacity of 3,050 MW.

With several significant matters unresolved, including questions related to the procurement of property, Sempra Energy Resources is hesitant to predict when it will reach a final decision on pursuing the construction of a 500 MW, natural gas-fueled power plant in Escondido, CA.

With the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as well as the Canada/United States Free Trade Agreement firmly in place, Canadian producers said North America as a whole must come together and continue to work toward a reliable supply of gas and oil to quench the appetite of the North American energy markets. It is critical, they said, that Canada and the United States develop additional global strategies to address energy production and consumption, especially with the constantly growing interdependence of the countries’ economies.

The Sempra Atlantic Gas distribution project is doing more thanflowing natural gas – it’s also pouring in benefits andopportunities for the Nova Scotians living in the area, accordingto the company’s first annual benefits report, a 36-page documentthat details employment, procurement of goods and services andcontracts. Sempra holds the franchise to develop, build and operatethe province’s natural gas distribution system.
