Semco Energy Inc. of Port Huron, MI, broadened its presence inthe southern United States by acquiring two construction companiesand an engineering firm that provide services mainly to gas andtelecommunications companies.

Semco gained Flint Construction Co. of Lawrenceville, GA; Long’sUnderground Technologies Inc. of Lufkin, TX; and Drafting ServicesInc. of Monroe, LA., which had combined annual revenue was nearly$23 million in the last fiscal year.

William L. Johnson, Semco CEO, said, “The addition of thesecompanies to our diversified business unit will add to our earningsand advance our goal of becoming one of the largest providers ofturnkey engineering and construction services in the energyindustry.”

The companies will be operated by Semco Energy Ventures, whichacquires companies involved in gas engineering, quality assuranceservices, pipeline construction services, propane distribution,intrastate pipelines and gas storage.
