Reliant Resources said Friday it has shed 41 more jobs within its wholesale energy operations, mostly positions related to trading-commercial and technical services.

The further scaling back of its work force was at its Houston headquarters, and was due to the “continuing realignment of our wholesale organization in response to business conditions,” said Reliant spokeswoman Sandy Fruhman.

With this latest round of cuts, she estimated that Reliant is left with approximately 160 employees in the trading and commercial side of its U.S. wholesale energy operations.

This marked the third time the company has announced job cuts this year. In August, Reliant Resources eliminated up to 135 positions within its energy merchant services area, which it said at the time was in response to the poor energy trading conditions industry wide. Reliant also had cut about 50 positions in June, and eliminated 22 of its contract positions.
