Freshly optimistic following recent legislative intervention to move its long-delayed natural gas project across the finish line, Mountain Valley Pipeline LLC (MVP) is now turning its attention to its Southgate extension, a recent FERC filing shows.

MVP last week asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a two-year extension of time to finish construction of the proposed MVP Southgate Project, which would give the developers until June 2026.

FERC issued a certificate for the Southgate Project in 2020. It would extend MVP into North Carolina, adding 75 miles of pipeline and 375 MMcf/d of capacity.
