Petal Gas Storage LLC is holding a nonbinding open season for 5 Bcf of firm capacity to be created through construction of a new salt cavern at its Petal, MS, facility. An in-service date is planned for the second quarter of 2010.

The open season begins July 24 and ends Aug. 7.

Petal, a subsidiary of Enterprise Products Partners LP, offers access to several major interstate pipelines and gives shippers flexibility to reach markets in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic through bi-directional interconnects to Tennessee Gas Pipeline, Gulf South Pipeline and Hattiesburg Gas Storage, the company said. It also features bi-directional interconnects to Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line, Southern Natural Gas and Destin Pipeline via the Petal Pipeline. Enterprise said it expects that Petal also will provide interconnects with the Southeast Supply Header (see Daily GPI, May 21) and Gulf Crossing systems (see Daily GPI, June 28).

Last fall Enterprise held an open season for capacity at Petal and offered 1.65 Bcf of existing working capacity and another 2.35 Bcf of new working capacity that was to be made available as part of an expansion (see Daily GPI, Oct. 31, 2006).
