BP Canada Energy Co. has appointed Brian E. Frank to the position of president and CEO, marking the first time a Canadian has been appointed to those positions within the company. He succeeds Dennis Roemmich, who is retiring. Houston-based Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has promoted David Larson to vice president of Investor Relations and Karl Kurz to vice president of Marketing. Larson is the current manager of investor relations. He joined Union Pacific Corp. (UPR) in 1980 as a corporate auditor, eventually joining the investor relations department. Anadarko merged with UPR in 2000. Kurz, currently the manager of Anadarko’s Energy Marketing unit, has worked in the department since 2000. Previously, Kurz worked in Vastar Resources’ marketing department and for ARCO Oil and Gas Co.

Chicago-based Kottke Associates has hired Gregory Holtgrave, former of ICAP Energy and Tenneco Energy for its proprietary energy trading operations. Kottke started the energy trading business earlier this year. With the addition of Holtgrave, Kottke plans to enhance its portfolio within the natural gas futures and basis markets in North America utilizing exchange and over-the counter (OTC) traded instruments. “Once we made the decision to enter this asset class, we began searching for someone with a diverse and experienced background. Greg comes to us with an outstanding resume in energy trading. We are confident his extensive knowledge and our proprietary trading systems will be a winning combination,” said CEO Neal Kottke.
