War continues to rage in Ukraine, with sanctions on Russia squeezing international energy markets, but natural gas prices in Mexico lost ground week/week and imports of the fuel from the United States held steady.

The United States continues to send out record levels of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and this week its Department of Energy granted permission for Cheniere Energy Inc. to boost export volumes from its two Gulf Coast terminals; but this has had no impact on pipeline trade.

On Thursday, Mexico imported 5.87 Bcf of natural gas from the United States via pipeline, and the 10-day average stood at 5.81 Bcf/d, according to NGI calculations. Imports have been in the 5-6 Bcf/d band since the start of the year.
