Mountain Valley Pipeline LLC (MVP) is revamping its proposed Southgate extension, reducing its length, cutting down on the number of water crossings and bypassing the need for a previously planned compressor station, the operator told regulators.

In filings late last week with FERC and the Securities and Exchange Commission, MVP said it entered into precedent agreements in late December with the Public Service Company of North Carolina (PSNC) “and another investment grade utility customer” for the redesigned Southgate extension. 

PSNC had committed to 300,000 Dth/d on the earlier iteration of the Southgate project, which was approved in 2020 by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. As previously proposed, Southgate would have added 75.1 miles to extend the MVP...
