Mississippi Hub LLC (MS Hub) has asked FERC for permission to place into service an interconnect pipeline header and associated meter station that will connect its storage terminal in southern Mississippi with Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco).

MS Hub, an affiliate of San Diego-based Sempra Energy, is seeking authorization to begin operating the Transco interconnect and meter facilities “on or before” Thursday. “MS Hub is currently making final in-service preparations for these facilities and anticipates completing these activities on Sept. 8,” wrote J.D. Morris, permitting manager for MS Hub, in a letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Tuesday [CP09-110].

The MS Hub storage facility, which is in Simpson County, MS, currently is interconnected to the Southern Natural Gas and Southeast Supply Header LLC systems. The facility’s location provides access to traditional gas supplies in the Gulf of Mexico and along the Gulf Coast, as well as shale gas production and liquefied natural gas imports, the company said.

The MS Hub facility is permitted for four storage caverns holding up to 30 Bcf of working gas. The first of the four caverns, currently in operation, provides 7.5 Bcf of high-deliverability working capacity. The second cavern is due to be in service in 2012.
