Millennium Pipeline Co. L.P. informed FERC last week that it has subscribed 81.5% of its Canada-to-New York pipeline project.

It reported that nine shippers have signed precedent agreements for 581.7 MMcf/d of the 714 MMcf/d of firm capacity that would be added by the pipeline project. Due to the project’s delay at the Commission, Millennium said all of its shippers have signed amendments to extend the termination deadlines for their precedent agreements to July 1 of this year.

The shippers and the capacity amounts they have contracted for include : CoEnergy Trading Co. (65 MMcf/d), Engage Energy America LLC (235.1 MMcf/d), International Business Machines Corp. (1 MMcf/d), North East Heat & Light Co. (7.5 MMcf/d), PanCanadian Energy Services Inc. (25 MMcf/d), Quantum Energy Services Inc. (4 MMcf/d), Stand Energy Corp. (9 MMcf/d), TransCanada Gas Services (117.5 MMcf/d) and Energy USA-TPC Corp (117.5 MMcf/d).

The Millennium pipeline, which was proposed in December 1977, would bring about 714 MMcf/d of natural gas from Canada under Lake Erie to the New York metropolitan area. Millennium still must get a final environmental nod and certificate from FERC before it can begin construction of the proposed 442-mile line. Sponsors of the project are Columbia Gas Transmission, TransCanada PipeLines, Westcoast Energy and MCN Energy Group.
