Dallas-based Matador Resources Co., which works in the Permian Basin, Haynesville and Eagle Ford shales, achieved record results during the third quarter, with natural gas production up 28% from a year ago and 6% higher sequentially. 

The stronger output came in part following the takeover earlier this year of Permian producer Advance Energy Partners Holdings LLC. However, the management team in July also highlighted the “higher-than-expected natural gas production” from the Haynesville portfolio in Louisiana.

Average natural gas output in 3Q2023 topped 345 MMcf/d, easily beating guidance of 324-330 MMcf/d. Overall oil and gas production averaged 135,096 boe/d, also 28% higher than in 3Q2022 and 3% higher sequentially.
