A notably more supportive outlook for late November cold in forecasts over the weekend saw natural gas futures rebound sharply in early trading Monday.

The December Nymex contract was up 13.6 cents to $3.169/MMBtu at around 8:30 a.m. ET. January was up 10.6 cents to $3.390.

Weather models accumulated heating degree days over the weekend, and colder trends were extended overnight ahead of Monday’s session, NatGasWeather said.

Most important from a natural gas market perspective, “after colder trends Nov. 22-26 across the northern U.S. over the weekend and overnight, demand will be stronger for this period and closer to seasonal,” the firm said.
