KN Energy began its Choice Gas program in Nebraska for1999-2000, which will enable nearly all of its service territorycustomers to choose their gas supplier. Last year more than 68% ofeligible Nebraskans selected their supplier under the program.”Choice Gas in Nebraska was very successful in its first year andshould be even better this year,” said Dan Watson, KN distributionoperations general manager.

This year it appears that at least 173 of the 180 communitiesserved by KN will participate in the program. Last year, 165communities approved ordinances and participated in the program. Inaddition, more suppliers have signed on to market gas in thisyear’s program.

“The first phase of this year’s Choice Gas program will focus onagricultural customers. This includes irrigation and grain-dryingcustomers.” Agricultural customers may attend one or more of 18farmer open house meetings that will begin Feb. 2. Suppliersparticipating in this year’s agricultural customer program includeKN Gas Services, Midwest United Energy, Oregon Trail Natural Gas,PACE and Post Rock Gas. Customers choosing a supplier other than KNwill receive one bill from KN for both the commodity andtransportation.
