One-year natural gas contracts, representing $175 million at current market prices, were awarded in Kimball Resources’ largest ever online auction for end users, which was completed late last month. Houston-based Kimball said the auction awarded 26 contracts to 10 different energy companies. End users to be served include DaimlerChrysler Corp., General Electric Aircraft Engines, Detroit Diesel and Ford Motor Co.

The online bidding event was the largest held to date for Kimball with 144 registered bidders, representing 91 different companies. The 28 posted RFP’s were held open for one week and drew 257 separate bids. Only two of the 28 RFP’s posted were not awarded. Contracts are between the bidders and the end users, using the new NAESB contract.

The remaining two RFP’s, as well as six Canadian RFP’s, will be posted soon. Anyone interested in this next online bidding event should contact Brandon S. Hayes or Doug Melis at 713-783-7723 or at the following e-mails: bhayes@kimballresources.com or dmelis@kimballresources.com.

Kimball Resources, an energy management company, says it has hosted online bidding events since 2001 for its client base. Online activity has been increasing, a spokesman said, although the firm also negotiates deals one-to-one. Kimball has been serving energy clients for 15 years.
