Natural gas futures were trading higher at the front of the curve early Tuesday as updated estimates offered further evidence of declining springtime production volumes.

Coming off a 10.7-cent rally on Monday, the June Nymex contract was up 1.3 cents to $2.043/MMBtu at around 8:50 a.m. ET.

Estimates from Wood Mackenzie as of early Tuesday showed daily domestic production dropping to 96.9 Bcf/d, off around 2 Bcf/d day/day. This included a roughly 1.5 Bcf/d upward revision to Monday’s sample.

“Day/day declines are concentrated in Texas and the Northeast, where there is maintenance underway, but revisions are expected in later cycles,” Wood Mackenzie analyst Laura Munder said.
