Southern Union Co. received final approval from the FederalEnergy Regulatory Commission for its merger with PennsylvaniaEnterprises Inc. The FERC approved transfer of control of powermarketing licenses held by Pacific Enterprises. The merger,announced June7, is expected to close Thursday.

Trigen-Cinergy Solutions (TCS) signed a 20-year contract toprovide energy services for Sweetheart Cup Corp., one of thenation’s largest manufacturers of single-use disposable productsfor the food and beverage service industry. Sweetheart Cup isheadquartered in Owings Mills, MD. TCS will design, build andoperate a 15 MW combined heat and power (CHP) plant to supply theSweetheart Cup facility. TCS will install a combustion turbinegenerator, heat recovery steam generator and a steam turbinegenerator, expected to go online in 4Q 2000. TCS anticipatesrevenues of $130 million over the life of the contract, whichprovides for an option to increase generation up to 26 MW.
