Germany is placing four LNG terminals on the northeastern coast, two of which are already in operation, under the management of terminal operator SC KN Energies, aka KN, as it looks to initiate the next round of regasification capacity auctions.

A two-year contract for Germany’s four chartered floating regasification and storage units (FSRU) was awarded to KN, previously known as SC Klaipėdos Nafta. KN will manage commercial services for the operating terminals at Wilhelmshaven and Brunsbüttel, as well as a second terminal at Wilhelmshaven and an additional unit at Stade. Both developing projects are expected to become operational this year.

German-based Uniper SE and RWE AG tapped KN to manage Wilhelmshaven, brought online in 2022, and Brunsbüttel, which ramped up in 2023....
