FERC has announced plans to meet on Friday with Midwest stateutility commissioners and officials with the National Associationof Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) to discuss the pricingturmoil that hit the Midwest electricity markets in the last weekof June.

The Commission also will hear presentations from officials ofthe Edison Electric Institute, the American Public PowerAssociation, the Electric Power Supply Association, the ElectricityConsumers Resource Council, and the National Rural ElectricCooperatives Association. The meeting will be held from 9 a.m.until noon (CDT) on Aug. 14th at the Rosemont Convention Center,5555 North River Rd., in Rosemont, IL.

The forum is part of the Commission’s continuing probe into thecircumstances that led to power prices in the Midwest rising to ashigh as $7,000 per MWh in late June. Chairman James Hoecker lastmonth announced the formation of a FERC fact-finding team to delveinto the events that precipitated the electricity price spikes.
