Falcon Gas Storage Co. Inc. is holding an open season for expanded capacity at its Hill-Lake Gas Storage Facility in Eastland County, TX beginning Tuesday and running through May 16. The high deliverability, multi-cycle (HDMC) facility will serve markets in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as well as other parts of Texas.

Up to 3.7 Bcf of working gas storage capacity will be available as a result of the proposed Phase II expansion of Hill-Lake, according to Falcon. Capacity will be made available on a firm basis for terms ranging from one to 10 years.Storage services available range from single-cycle seasonal storage service to multi-cycle services of up to six annual inventory cycles.Load following and balancing services also are available to meet the needs of gas-fired electric generators and other customers with highly variable intra-day swing needs.

Receipt and delivery points include the EPGT/TUFCO North Texas Pipeline, Lone Star Pipeline’s Line “X” and Line “WA,” and the Cantera Resources Pipeline. Bids will be awarded on a highest net present value basis.

“We were fully subscribed at Hill-Lake this past winter,” said Mark Courtney, Falcon’s vice president of storage marketing operations.”We have had strong interest in incremental capacity from both existing and prospective customers, so we are holding an open season to determine the extent of customer interest and help us better define the parameters of the Phase II expansion.Obviously, this past winter has underscored the value of HDMC storage, especially for serving winter peak-day demand as well as meeting the summer and intra-day peak demand requirements of gas-fired power plants, which have proliferated in the North Texas market in recent years.”
