DT Midstream Inc. (DTM) said it has finished building the 400 MMcf/d second-phase expansion of its Louisiana Energy Access Project, or LEAP, and expects the new capacity to be available for firm service on Jan. 1.

The Detroit-based company on Wednesday announced “early mechanical completion” of the expansion that would boost capacity of the 150-mile, 36-inch diameter pipeline by 70% to 1.7 Bcf/d. LEAP carries Haynesville Shale supply in Louisiana to the Gulf Coast for industrial use and LNG exports.

The Jan. 1 start of firm service is in line with an initial schedule set in 2022 as well as an update on the company’s third-quarter earnings call. In November, CEO David Slater said the Phase 1 expansion “has been running flat out” since it went into service in August,...
