Mexican conglomerate Grupo Carso SAB has bought into another Mexico oil and natural gas field in shallow waters offshore Campeche.

Carso subsidiary Zamajal SA de CV would acquire PetroBal SAPI de CV and its 50% interest in the Ichalkil and Pokoch fields. PetroBal is the oil and gas subsidiary of Mexican conglomerate Grupo Bal.

The deal is worth $530 million and is subject to regulatory and other authorizations, Grupo Carso said in a filing. The Ichalkil and Pokoch fields have been in production since 2022 and are currently producing 16,350 boe/d.

The fields in the Sureste Basin were part of auction Round 1.2 organized by the Comisión Nacional de Hidrocarburos (CNH). The Area 4 fields were awarded to a consortium of Houston-based Fieldwood Energy LLC and PetroBal.
