Northern Border Seeks Interest in Bakken Lateral in North Dakota

Northern Border Pipeline Co. is testing the shipper interest in a proposed 16-inch diameter, 295 MMcf/d capacity pipeline lateral from the newly expanded Hess Corp. Tioga natural gas processing plant in northwest North Dakota. It is conducting an open season through Nov. 26.

Bakken, Piceance Assets Likely to Be Sold, Oxy CEO Says

Occidental Petroleum Corp. (Oxy), which soon will spin off its California assets into a new company, currently has more of a sales mindset, but if oil prices continue to decline it could quickly switch to a buying mode regarding U.S. domestic assets, particularly in the Permian Basin, CEO Stephen Chazen said Thursday on a 3Q2014 earnings conference call.

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. has introduced the Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducer (EMAT), a pipeline inspection robot, to upgrade maintenance and safety checks on a natural gas pipeline system in South San Francisco. The robot uses ultrasonic waves within the pipe to automatically detect weld defects. The new technology does not require excavation to test the inside of the pipe. The robot travels inside the pipeline to inspect the girth welds.
