Sempra to Save TX Air Force Base $254,000/Year

In an effort to comply with Executive Order 13123, which states that government agencies must cut energy use 30% by 2005 and 35% by 2010, based on 1985 emission levels, Goodfellow Air Force Base located in San Angelo, TX, has entered a 15-year energy savings agreement with Sempra Energy Solutions (SES).

After conducting an audit of the base's current energy usage, SES developed a new engineering design. Now the company will complete construction, and monitor it for the duration of the contract.

As part of the deal, SES will apply water conservation techniques to toilet and shower water flows. It will upgrade mechanical equipment, and update lighting and fixtures in eight buildings.

The project is expected to save the Air Force base $244,000 a year in energy consumption costs, and $10,000 more per year in facility maintenance costs.
