FERC fortunately hasn’t been the target of any anthrax-laced mail, but it is feeling some of the after-shocks from the scare that has permeated Washington, DC.

The Commission said it hasn’t received mail from the U.S. Postal Service for nearly two weeks — since Oct. 24 — and doesn’t know when it will resume. It continues, however, to receive filings that are being sent through private mail delivery, including messenger services.

As a result, FERC noted that it is encouraging energy companies to electronically file “qualified documents, such as interventions, protests and comments.” It said it plans to issue a notice in the “near future” to further expand the list of documents that can be filed through electronic means.
