Finland’s first floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) arrived at the port of Inkoo on Wednesday, where the country has jointly developed a terminal with Estonia to replace Russian natural gas supplies.

The Exemplar was partially loaded with LNG to serve as the facility’s commissioning cargo, said vessel owner Excelerate Energy Inc. Gasgrid Finland Oy’s 10-year charter started Oct. 1, but the Exemplar departed drydock in Spain on Dec. 6 where it was winterized. Excelerate said it was loaded from its liquefied natural gas portfolio in a ship-to-ship transfer with the FSRU Excelsior.

The Exemplar has the ability to provide about 5 billion cubic meters a year of regasification capacity, or roughly 500 MMcf/d.
