Amoco plans to develop one of its largest gas discoveriesoffshore Trinidad and Tobago to serve future demand on the islandsand supply the Atlantic LNG export project in Trinidad.

The $230 million investment is part of the company’s move toincrease its Trinidad gas production from 350 MMcf/d to more than 1Bcf/d over the next three years. First production of gas from theAmherstia field is slated for first quarter 2000.

Over the next few years Amoco Trinidad Oil Company will supplythe National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago with an additional350 MMcf/d for a number of its new domestic industrial consumers.Amoco will also supply 430 MMcf/d to the Atlantic LNG exportproject in Trinidad. Production from Atlantic Train 1, now underconstruction, is set for first half of 1999.
