AGL Resources’ Jefferson Island Storage & Hub (JISH) said it is taking bids on 1.1 million Dth of firm storage capacity that will be available starting April 1, 2007 at its 7.2 MMDth salt dome gas storage facility in Erath, LA, near the Henry Hub. The company also is testing the market for interest in a fourth storage cavern at the facility that would be in service in 2011.

Located in Vermilion and Iberia Parishes, JISH has begun construction of a third storage cavern, which is expected to be completed by 2009. The expansion is expected to increase the total capacity to 13.6 MMDth from 10 MMDth currently. The facility currently has 720,000 Dth/d of withdrawal capacity and 360,000 Dth/d injection capacity. A fourth cavern would bring its total capacity to 19.8 MMDth with 1.5 MMDth/d of withdrawal capacity and 750,000 Dth/d of injection capacity.

The JISH header has interconnections with eight pipelines, including direct access to the Henry Hub via Sabine Pipeline. It connects to Crosstex (Louisiana Intrastate Gas), Texas Gas Transmission, Columbia Gulf Transmission, Sea Robin Pipeline, Tennessee Gas Pipeline, Gulf South Pipeline and NGPL. JISH also expects to have new interconnects with Trunkline and Southern Natural in connection with the expansion of its third cavern. In addition, JISH has the potential to interconnect with Bridgeline, Acadian and Dow if customers are interested.
