Supporters of carbon capture and storage (CCS) have accelerated a campaign for government support with an open letter to leaders in Canada, the UK and the United States. 

“The world can’t afford to ignore CCS as a key tool in fighting climate change, along with energy efficiency and greater electrification,” said the letter from industry alliance International CCS Knowledge Centre. The letter was addressed to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and President Biden. 

Academic and industry figures in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and the UK co-signed the letter. The appeal also went to energy, environment and finance leaders.
