The $350 million, 437 MW combined cycle San Luis Potosí power plant in Villa de Reyes is on track to come online next year, according to management at Mexican utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE).

The $319 million, 350 MW natural gas-fired Lerdo combined cycle in Durango is also slated to come online next year, CFE officials said in a statement. CEO Manuel Bartlett said both projects are crucial for energy supply in the central Bajio and in the north of the country. Bartlett has previously touted the nation’s natural gas infrastructure buildout, calling natural gas from the United States the cheapest in the world.
