In a field crowded with potential projects, Spanish supermajor Repsol SA is partnering with Carbon-Zero US LLC, Cox Operating LLC and Crescent Midstream to develop a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) hub on the Gulf Coast.

Repsol and Carbon-Zero, a Cox affiliate, last year agreed to evaluate CCS opportunities on the coast. Initially, the consortium said it would focus on storing emissions in Louisiana, where Cox has existing operations in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico (GOM).

“We are thrilled to be part of a market-based solution that is leading the way for CCS in the Gulf of Mexico,” said Brad Cox, who chairs Cox and Carbon-Zero. “The way we see it is that CCS equals jobs.”
