Green groups in Mexico are urging regulators to throw out two environmental impact statements submitted by TC Energy Corp. for the proposed Southeast Gateway offshore natural gas pipeline.

The 1.3 Bcf/d, $4.5 billion conduit is meant to shore up gas supply in central and southeast Mexico, including to state oil company Petróleos Mexicanos’ (Pemex) Olmeca refinery in Dos Bocas, Tabasco. 

TC Energy is jointly developing the pipeline with state power company Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). The firms are aiming for the project to be in-service by mid-2025.
