William has agreed to provide up to 60,000 MMBtu/d of summer no-notice natural gas transportation service to the new Aquila Crossroads Energy Center near Clarksdale, MS. Williams will build 5,400 feet of 12-inch pipe and related meter facilities off its Texas Gas system to serve the 320 MW simple cycle peaking facility, beginning in June 2002.

“We realize Aquila has a number of choices when it comes to selecting a pipeline supplier, and we are pleased they again chose Williams to transport clean-burning natural gas to another one of their new power generation facilities,” said Dean Jones, vice president of customer services and rates for Williams’ Texas Gas systems. “Williams has an excellent business relationship with Aquila and we look forward to helping them grow their power generation business in the Mississippi Valley.”

Headquartered in Houston, Williams’ gas pipeline unit is one of the nation’s largest volume transporters of natural gas.
