ExxonMobil is teaming up with Scepter Inc. to deploy advanced satellite technology and data processing platforms to “redefine methane detection and mitigation efforts,” initially in the Permian Basin.

The partnership is slated to be multi-sector, extending across the energy complex and dozens of other industries including agriculture, manufacturing and transportation.

“This collaboration will enable multiple industries to identify the sources of methane emissions around the world in real-time, so that leak repairs or mitigation solutions can be deployed rapidly,” said ExxonMobil’s Bart Cahir, senior vice president of Unconventional.
