Caledonia Energy Partners LLC has filed an application with FERC to construct and operate an 11 Bcf natural gas storage facility in northeastern Mississippi. Upon approval, the Caledonia Storage Field could be in full operation by April 2006.

The proposed facility would be located in Monroe and Lowndes counties, with a direct interconnect with Tennessee Gas Pipeline. The facility would have injection and withdrawal rates that create four annual cycles of flexibility.

With approximately 98% of the land under agreements and key state certificates to construct and operate the facility already in place, in-service date targets are “very achievable,” Caledonia officials said in a statement.

A non-binding open season for firm storage capacity was held between May and June, and Jim Goetz, president of Calendonia, said the company is now working on final agreements with prospective customers (see NGI, May 17). Nicor Enerchange LLC would serve as marketing administrator. For more information, visit www.caledoniastorage.com.
