Weekly cash prices gave up ground amid a reprieve from summer heat in the West and cooler air ushered in by Hurricane Idalia.

NGI’s Weekly Spot Gas National Avg. for the Aug. 31-Sept. 1 period slipped 1.0 cent to $2.290.

Conditions during the period were impacted by fallout from Idalia’s brief but powerful impact on the Southeast Wednesday. Wood Mackenzie data showed the storm impacted natural gas demand in Florida by about 400,000 MMBtu/d that day, while Georgia saw an 87,000 MMBtu/d cut to consumption at midweek.

As the trading week closed, FGT Citygate was down 63.0 cents to $3.550 and Florida Gas Zone 3 was off 16.5 cents to $3.095.

In the West, where temperatures moderated after a mostly scorching summer, PG&E Citygate lost 93.0 cents to $3.480.
